1.0 FTE Temporary 8 Week Contract - Jr. Science <p><p><p>Start Date: Effective Immediately to Dec 20th, 2024<p><p><p>St. Thomas More Collegiate, a progressive co-ed Blessed Edmund Rice Christian Brother Catholic Independent high school in Burnaby, B.C., is seeking a secondary school educator to join our Science and Math departments to fill a temporary leave. The successful candidate will be expected to be part of a collaborative teaching team within our Science and Math departments whose goal is the positive growth and development of students. This full time position will encompass four grade 8 Math classes, three Science 9 classes and one block of coverage. <p><p><p>STMC?s Science Department provides a program with strong emphasis on experimentation to develop critical thinking, skills of analysis, reasoning, evaluation, problem solving and decision-making in our students. <p><p><p>The STMC Mathematics Department places great emphasis on the development of mathematically powerful students. Our curriculum focuses on numeracy skills and competencies, as well as their practical application in higher education and the workplace. <p><p><p>Preference will be given to applicants with previous secondary school experience teaching a variety of math and science courses and a Bachelor?s Degree in Education.<p><p><p>Potential candidates must be a member, or be in the process of becoming a member, of the British Columbia College of Teachers or hold a BC Independent School Teacher?s Certificate.
