<h3>Job Description</h3><div>Job Description<div><p>Garry Thomas Law is a boutique, downtown family law firm looking to add a Legal Assistant or Paralegal to our team that has 3-5 years of experience in family law.</p><p>The primary duties and responsibilities include the following:</p><p>• Maintaining physical and digital files in accordance with the firm's policy and practice</p><p>• Ability to manage a strong BF system for the lawyer</p><p>• Schedule Court dates, Mediations, Examinations for Discovery</p><p>• Assist in the drafting, preparation and filing of court documents</p><p>• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel or opposing parties and other third parties</p><p>• Monitoring and distributing incoming correspondence</p><p>• Drafting correspondence</p><p>• Ability to manage a strong BF system for the lawyer</p><p>• Organizing files and documents</p><p>• Preparing List of Documents</p><p>• Assisting with trial preparation</p><p>• Requesting and obtaining documents</p><p>The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and attributes:</p><p>• Legal Assistant/ Paralegal Certificate or equivalent</p><p>• 3+ years of family law litigation experience</p><p>• Familiarity with BC Supreme Court Family Rules</p><p>• Strong verbal and written communication skills</p><p>• Ability to work independently and in a team setting</p><p>• Strong attention to detail and superior word processing, spelling, proofreading and editing skills</p><p>• Intermediate to advanced computer skills including all Microsoft Office products, EsiLaw and BC Online Searches</p><p>• In depth knowledge of legal terminology, court rules and procedures</p><p>• Capacity to perform duties with speed and accuracy</p><p>• High level of discretion and confidentiality</p><p>• Excellent command of the English language</p><p>• Ability to quickly modify work priorities to meet unexpected and sometimes competing deadlines</p><p>• Detail oriented and dedicated team player who is also capable of working independently</p><p>Compensation is dependent on the candidate's relevant qualifications and experience. We offer a medical allowance (after the probationary period) and four weeks vacation. </p><p>We thank you for your interest.
