Job details
The FORT is a not-for-profit community organization that provides free programs for youth in grades 6-12. The Program Coordinator will work independently under the supervision of the Executive Director to plan, facilitate and monitor daily recreational youth programming activities.
The Hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 2-8PM with extended hours in the summer.
*NOTE: *This is a very busy centre with a large client attendance. Applicants should feel comfortable working independently and be confident in their delivery of programming and resources.
*Responsibilities and Duties*
* Develop interactive and innovative recreational program planning for youth ages 11-18
* Lead and facilitate daily activities for youth, as well as acting as a coach and mentor
* Complete and file daily reports and statistical tracking
* Maintain centre
* Coordinate volunteers and co-op students daily
* Promote the FORT within the community and be aware of community resources
* Attend fundraising and special events as required
* Assume other duties as required
*Qualifications and Skills*
* Knowledge in community based programming, social and life skills development for youth
* Ability to maintain a safe and controlled environment.
* Enthusiastic, takes initiative and enjoys working with youth
* Solid interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills
* Able to work independently
* Computer literacy with MS Office programs (Word, Excel)
* Preference to applicants who have completed Child and Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Recreation and Leisure, or similar post-secondary programs
* Preference to those with previous volunteer experience
* Preferences for First Aid & CPR Training, Food Handling certification.
* Must have a valid driver?s license and vehicle
* Must have current Vulnerable Sector Check issued by a police service (Mandatory)
