*JOB OVERVIEW*: The Banquet Manager is responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing various aspects of banquet and catering events for the Cambridge Hotel & Conference Centre and B-Elegant. The banquet manager will work closely with the kitchen staff, other relevant departments and will be responsible for managing Banquet staff. In this role you will work a flexible schedule that will be driven by the business on the books.
*Reports to: *Managing Director
*Essential Job Functions:*
* Coordinate with various departments to ensure all aspects of the event are well organized.
* Recruit, train, and performance manage Banquet and B-Elegant servers and supervisors.
* Develop and train a team of Supervisors on Duty to be able to lead functions.
* Manage inventory levels and be responsible for ordering supplies as needed.
* Assign duties and responsibilities to staff members to ensure the smooth execution of events.
* Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate expectations and updates.
* Coordinate with the kitchen and catering teams to ensure timely and accurate food and beverage services including ensuring that Dietary requests are met.
* Develop staff schedules and manage payroll accordingly.
* Responsible for managing and controlling Labour Budget costs and Beverage costs.
* Adhere to liquor laws and regulations.
* Providing B-Hospitality excellence to clients and guests, addressing any concerns or issues that may arise during the event.
* Create contingency plans to handle unexpected situations.
* Oversee the set up and breakdown of banquet spaces, ensuring the banquet or venue space is set up as per the client?s specifications and it meets Health and Safety regulations.
* Ensure compliance with Health & Safety procedures and ensure that sanitation levels are maintained.
* Manage and handle all post billing charges and additional administrative tasks.
* Attend managers meetings and BEO meetings.
* Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
Essential Job Requirements:
* Bachelor?s degree in hospitality or equivalent experience is required.
* Minimum 2 years of supervisory experience.
* Must be Smart Serve Certified.
* Familiarity with Food & Beverage operations.
* Must be willing to ?pitch in? and help co-workers with their job duties and be a team player.
* Must be a self starter and have a passion for Service.
* Initiative is a must as this role may look different each shift.
* Must be able to deal with problem solving situations and make judgment decisions.
* Excellent organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently.
* Must be able to deal with issues arising from guest complaints (internal and external) in a timely manner using problem solving and de-escalating techniques.
* Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make decisions quickly and confidentially.
* Demonstrated tact and diplomacy with highly confidential information.
