The *Interpreter* is responsible for assisting with planning and implementation of museum and education programs at the John R. Park Homestead, other Authority properties and facilities, program participant sites, and virtually. Reporting to the Curator/Education Coordinator, this position plays an active role in maintaining the John R. Park Homestead Museum, its artifacts, the Conservation Centre and outbuildings, across the 19-acre site, while providing exceptional customer service to our internal and external clients and the broader community.

*DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES*
* Delivers a wide variety of heritage and natural interpretive programming (i.e. scheduled programs, demonstrations, guided tours, nature hikes, etc.) both virtually and in-person at the John R. Park Homestead historical museum, other ERCA conservation area properties and program participant sites for schools (K-12), community groups and visitors.
* Acts as the lead Interpreter for demonstrations and interpretation of blacksmithing, woodworking, textile weaving and other equipment related to these trades.
* Under the direction of the Curator/Education Coordinator, has key responsibilities in the daily maintenance of the 19-acre conservation area, including: opening and closing all buildings, starting and extinguishing fires, splitting and preparing firewood, ensuring equipment is in good working order, minor maintenance activities, program and rental setup and cleanup, washroom maintenance, etc.
* Assists with providing a broad range of customer/visitor services including, but not limited to: museum operations and tours, program bookings, facility rental inquires and proactively addresses or responds to situational issues and customer inquiries to ensure excellent customer service.
* Assists with museum collections management, including: accessions documentation (ex. preparing gift forms, temporary incoming and outgoing loan documents, donor records, and accessions catalogue entries etc.); artifact photography and labelling; moving artifacts to and from storage areas; initial condition reporting; and conservation and maintenance of artifacts under the supervision of the Curator.
* Participates in the planning and implementation of programs, special events, outreach and fundraising activities.
* Assists with the design and development of engaging and informative exhibits and displays, for events and various outreach initiatives.
* Works as a collaborative team member and assists with volunteer and special grant employee coordination.
* Carries out regular site cleaning of historic buildings, grounds and visitor centre.
* Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities consistent with the position as required
*MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS*
* Diploma required in History, Museum Studies, Education or Library/Archival Studies or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience, as deemed acceptable to the Employer
* One year experience creating and delivering presentations or public speaking to a wide variety of audiences including, education programs, interpretation, theater and performing arts, storytelling, and walking tours
* Demonstrated basic knowledge of local natural/cultural heritage
* Excellent customer service and communication skills (both written and verbal)
* Creative, organized, detail oriented, self-motivated, and able to work independently and as part of a larger team
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MSTeams, etc.), and confidence in utilizing social media platforms, online presentation tools and web-conferencing platforms (i.e. Zoom, GoogleMeet, etc.)
* First Aid/CPR/AED certification
