Education Assistant III (Autism) <p>The Burnaby School District is seeking qualified Education Assistants III (Autism) for Regular, Temporary or On-Call positions.<p>Education Assistants III (Autism) are responsible for providing support for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in and out of the classroom, and within the community.<p><p> Assist in the planning, implementation and review of the student's Individual Education Plans (IEP), positive behavior support plan and safely plan. <p> Reinforces the educational program by tutoring, adapting, or modifying classroom materials to meet the specialized needs of students with ASD.<p> Provides personal care assistance, such as toileting, feeding, diapering, and dressing.<p> Provides physical assistance, such as wheelchair maneuvering, positioning, lifting and transferring.<p> Collects assessment data and utilizes data to document progress and for decision making regarding the goals and objectives in the student's IEP. Prepares written reports, communication logs and classroom materials.<p><p>To be considered, candidates must have the following:<p>Required Qualifications: <p><p> Successful completion of a Certificate / Diploma with focus on empirically supported approaches to supporting students with ASD or an equivalent certification plus 1,000 hours home team / Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) training and work experience documented by a Professional Consultant.<p> One (1) year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience;<p> Thorough knowledge of ASD and characteristics of effective interventions such as ABA.<p> Demonstrated ability to work effectively with students with ASD.<p> Working knowledge of adaptive / assistive technology related to work performed including computers, wheelchairs, and medical equipment.<p> Knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) would be an asset.<p><p>Hourly Rate: $36.36 per hour.<p> <p>If you are passionate about supporting students to succeed and pride yourself in promoting an inclusive environment, we want to hear from you.<p>Please submit a complete application package, including your cover letter, resume, and any supporting documentation including proof of completion of program (i.e. EA, ABA, POPARD, NVCI, etc.) and a document to confirm the 1,000 hours of ABA experience signed off by a Professional Consultant.<p> <p> <p>The Burnaby School District values inclusion and embraces diversity as a strength.
