Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work site environment: Confined spaces. Outdoors. Noisy. Dusty. Work setting: Residential. Commercial. Millwork/pre-fab shopwork. Various locations. Tasks: Operate woodworking machines, such as power saws, jointers, mortisers and shapers, to cut, shape and form parts and components. Prepare specifications of custom-made cabinets that maximize storage. Shape surfaces or edges of wood workpieces, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.. Study plans, specifications or drawings of articles to be made. Trim joints and fit parts and subassemblies together to form complete unit and reinforce joints. Sand wooden surfaces and apply veneer, stain or polish to finished products; prepare and apply laminated plastics. Apply varnish, veneer, stain or polish to finished products. Area of specialization: Cabinets. Built-in units. Doors and door frames. Furniture and cabinet remodeling. Kitchen cabinets and vanities. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Manual dexterity. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots. Personal suitability: Accurate. Team player. Punctuality. Experience: 1 to less than 7 months.
