We at Richview Manor pride ourselves on providing our guests with an enriched menu, balance diet and positive experience. Being a part of our team you will broaden your skill set in large production fine dining and banquet service.
The Cooks position is focused to prep/prepare nutritious meals of high quality food to residence in a safe manner, that contributes to their daily meals/snacks in our main dining room and/or second floor server and lobby lounge. The Cook?s role is very innovative, not only in food preparation but in presentation. You will be part of a team that leads in coaching the servers on presentation, utilizing their initiative, to execute problem solving skills to ensure resident satisfaction by producing an exceptional cuisine experience.
*Responsibilities:*
* Promote Health & Safety in the workplace and ensures all local health regulations are met. Ensure staff is using the highest standard of Food Safety procedures as set out by the home. Ensure the kitchens are clean and organized.
* Act as an example of Richview Manor?s values to colleagues; Respect, Integrity, Teamwork and Empowerment.
* Produce highly quality food items and show initiative and the ability to be highly productive with food preparation independently or in a team setting. Be self-motivated and quality driven.
* Reports to Sous Chefs to ensure schedules are meeting productivity guidelines and proper coverage for meal periods as assured. Work within the department budget, minimize labor and food costs.
* Communicate in a timely manner with the Sous Chefs any food items that need to be ordered. Assist with monthly Inventory Cycle.
* Reports directly to the Culinary Services manager any concerns within the team, or concerns within the multi-disciplinary team.
*Qualifications:*
* 5 years cooking experience. Within a Retirement home experience is an asset.
* Possession of an Interprovincial Red Seal Certificate is an asset or equivalent is recommended.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* An energetic team player able to multi task successfully. Must be highly organized and enjoy working with the elderly and around structured meal times.
* Safe Food Handling Certificate.
* Knowledge of HACPP
