The City of Kamloops is recruiting for Lifeguards who will begin their career with us in approximately November 2024. This will allow candidates the opportunity to gain the required certification(s) and become fully qualified. You can learn more about the courses needed to become fully qualified for this position by visiting The Lifesaving Society | Water Safety Training & Education. If you have a passion for lifeguarding and community safety and are enthusiastic about teaching swimming lessons, we encourage you to submit your resume and your availability today!We will be providing all qualified candidates with frequent updates to keep them informed on the next steps of the Lifeguard recruitment.Please complete the attached availability schedule and upload to your profile along with your resume and proof of qualifications (including Lifesaving Society ID number) and proof of age (Drivers Licence, Birth Certificate Etc.).The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:Minimum age is 16 years old. Current National Lifeguard (NL) Award - Pool Option. Current Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor Certificate.Preferred Qualifications:Current CPR - C Certificate or equivalent Current Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) Certificate Current BCRPA Aquatic Fitness certification.For new hires, and for those working in designated positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable persons, no formal offer of employment will be made until an applicant completes a police information check. This position will receive 14% in lieu of all benefits, vacation, stat holidays, and health time.
