We are looking for an administrative professional with outstanding customer service skills to join our Community Safety team as our next Clerk - Permits and Licenses. This position is an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of municipal operations and serve resident needs within the local community. The role primarily supports our bylaw enforcement and business licensing teams by handling inquiries from the public, processing business licence applications and assigning files to the appropriate staff for further investigation. Attention to detail, ability to multitask and a calm demeanor will be critical for success in this role. The successful candidate will be a quick learner with excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to explain regulations and liaise effectively with members of the public.This position will be responsible for answering public enquiries related to the work as well as processing business licence applications and various payments. Strong customer service and communication skills are required to provide business licensing and bylaw enforcement information in-person, through email, and over telephone. Other responsibilities include: receiving, classifying and obtaining approval for business licenses; calculating and collecting fees; providing factual information to the public; approving and issuing routine licences and permits; and maintaining related files or records. In addition, the successful candidate may perform general typing, data entry, and clerical duties. Our ideal candidate will possess a drive for excellence in customer service, sound judgment, and a sense of initiative, while being able to work independently with minimal supervision.Minimum QualificationsPreferred candidates will have completed grade 12 and have supplemented this education with typing and commercial courses, plus sound related clerical experience; OR an equivalent combination of training and experience.Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of the City?s bylaws would be considered an asset. Municipal experience would be considered an asset.What We Offer:This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $29.48 - $34.63. The rate of pay is based on a variety of factors including qualifications, knowledge, experience and skills.This part-time clerical role works 28 hours per week and is typically scheduled 9:00AM - 5:00PM on Monday and Friday, and 12:00PM - 5:00PM Tuesday through Thursday.
