Fire Services CoordinatorPermanent Full-Time / ExternalFire ServicesCompetition No.: 2024-2044www.rdn.bc.caABOUT THE ROLEThe Regional District of Nanaimo is seeking a permanent full-time Fire Services Coordinator. The Fire Services Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient delivery and administration of fire protection services and programs in the Electoral Areas of the Regional District of Nanaimo (RDN). As the administrative leader of the RDN?s Fire Services, the Coordinator will work collaboratively to optimize fire services, fire prevention, recruitment, education, training, project management and the procurement and distribution of goods and services necessary to support fire and rescue operations. The position will be the key contact for multiple fire protection service providers.QUALIFICATIONSDegree in emergency management, business administration or related field, supplemented by courses in fire services, and occupational health and safety, plus five (5) years of directly related experience including project management. Firefighter I & II and Fire Officer Certifications, as well as volunteer/resource management training will be considered assets. Direct experience working with volunteer fire departments is preferred. An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. A current Class 5 BC driver?s license is required.POSITION DETAILSThis is a permanent full-time Exempt position offering 35 hours of work per week. The incumbent must be able to work a variety of shifts to meet operational requirements, including weekends, evenings and long days. The salary range for this position is $99,975-$111,083, plus participation in the Municipal Pension Plan and a competitive benefits package.SKILLS & ABILITIES Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with stakeholders in the delivery of Fire Services. Demonstrated administrative and organizational skills including budget management and proficient use of computers and relevant software programs.
