Livestock Research Innovation Corporation (LRIC) is focused on driving innovation in Ontario's livestock sector. We are seeking a Director of Research to join our small team of dedicated employees. The Director of Research will lead LRIC's efforts in working with members, government, and academia toward relevant and impactful research efforts in Ontario Livestock. What we Offer:Competitive compensationWork from homeExciting and challenging work for a proud Canadian employerAn awesome small team of dedicated individualsThe opportunity to truly make a difference in support of the livestock communityResponsibilities:Conduct proposal reviews and participate in review panelsResearch topics of interest to LRIC members and emerging research results related to on farm adoptionLiaise with researchers at various provincial, national, and international academic institutionsPrepare materials to bring research results to livestock producers in an understandable and relevant, timely mannerExplore various research funding streams and link relevant stakeholders to projectsWork with LRIC's International Research Advisory committee as they explore internationally proven means of improving the innovation cycleWork with the CEO to develop an annual work planCreate summaries of research topics of relevance to Ontario LivestockCreate topic summaries in member driven research priority areasDevelop and present materials to LRIC members on topics of interestFacilitate research priority setting sessions with LRIC membersOther related duties as required Background:Related work experience in the livestock industry requiredDeep understanding of Ontario/Canadian research ecosystem requiredA strong industry network is a definite assetWork experience in applied research is an assetA related post graduate degree, or similar in education and experience requiredProven ability to collaborate between industry and academiaStrong analytical skills are requiredGood written and verbal communication skills requiredHave a 'can do' attitude and willing to work hard to leave all members with a positive experienceAdaptable to emerging and shifting prioritiesAbility to work effectively as a member of a small team We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those selected for interview will be contacted. We are committed to all forms of diversity and welcome all qualified candidates.
