The Social Studies department at Crofton House School is distinguished by extraordinary teachers who inspire students to develop and pursue their passion in general or specialist fields of Socials. This is a short-term contract to cover a medical leave and will be teaching: Social Studies 8, Social Studies 9 and Contemporary Indigenous Studies 12. Responsibilities: Bring a student-centered, inquiry-based and collaborative approach to the delivery of the B.C. curriculum of Socials Studies (Grade 8 - 12)Support the growth and development of individual learners through the delivery of the Crofton House School Advisory programWork as a collaborative and supportive member of the Socials departmentBuild relationships with teachers and staff across the school communityBe an active and positive participant in the co-curricular program as appropriate for the term of the contract Participate in school meetings and events, including school planning and professional developmentCreate a positive and supportive culture for learningQualifications, Knowledge, Experience: Essential : B.C. Ministry of Education Certificate or Independent School Certification qualification criteriaRelevant university qualifications (e.g. Bachelor of Education plus Bachelor of Arts in Humanities, Business, Law, or equivalent)Experience as a social studies teacher at a senior school levelA comprehensive understanding of current educational practices outlined in the BC Ministry of Ed
