Recreation Coordinator<p>Location:Sioux Lookout, ON<p>(Non-Union Support Staff - 10 month position - Temporary - Full Time)<p>Start Date: Immediately until September 25, 2025 with possibility of extension<p>Hours: 1:00-9:00 p.m. (flexible) Keewatin-Patricia District School Board<p>(KPDSB) is situated in beautiful Northwestern Ontario. KPDSB serves the<p>educational needs of approximately 5,000 students within 17 elementary and 6<p>secondary schools in the communities of Kenora, Sioux Narrows, Vermilion Bay,<p>Ear Falls, Red Lake, Dryden, Sioux Lookout, Ignace, Pickle Lake, Savant Lake,<p>and Upsala. Additional information regarding the Board is available on the<p>Boards web site at http://www.kpdsb.on.ca/ <p>The Recreation Coordinator will be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing recreational programs and cultural activities for students. The ideal candidate will have a passion for promoting social engagement and overall well-being among students.<p>Responsibilities Design, develop, and execute a diverse range of recreational programs and cultural activities suitable for students<p> Collaborate with school staff, students, and community partners to identify interests and preferences to tailor programs accordingly<p> Foster a positive and inclusive environment that encourages student participation and engagement in recreational programs<p> Implement strategies to address the diverse needs and interests of the student body<p> Work with community partners and Elders to plan for programs and activities<p> Ensure proper planning, logistics, and communication to ensure successful events<p> Book, coordinate, and ensure facilities are well-maintained and accessible for scheduled activities<p> Coordinate with school administration to secure necessary resources for recreational programs<p> Promote programs and activities to students and caregivers<p> Utilize various communication channels to keep the school community informed about upcoming events and opportunities to advocate for and to communicate the needs of students<p> Work closely with teachers, administrators, and other school staff to integrate recreational programs into school programming (curricular, extracurricular, and outside of the school day)<p> Maintain accurate records of program attendance, feedback, and other relevant data<p> Conduct regular evaluations of programs to assess their effectiveness and make improvements as needed<p> Coordinate with other organizations/agencies to advertise for their programming and co-plan activities with themEducation and Qualifications Degree or diploma in Recreation or related field preferred<p> Previous experience working with students in a recreational or educational setting preferred.<p> Extensive experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit students, their families and communities within Northwestern Ontario<p> Trauma informed training and/or willingness to obtain<p> Drivers license requiredKnowledge and Attributes Strong organizational and communication skills<p> Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of stakeholders<p> CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)<p> Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations related to recreational activities.<p> Understanding barriers students may face to attend school This position will be posted until Friday, October 4, 2024 at 4:00pm.
