*Overview:*The Senior Financial Analyst will be a leader within the corporate accounting team; responsible for the coordination of the month-end close process; ownership of the general ledger; maintain internal controls over financial reporting; and ensure that company procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. The incumbent will also streamline processes to create reliable and timely delivery of accounting information and will play an active role in the development and implementation of process improvements.
*Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:*
* Manage the accounting and financial close process in compliance with all regulatory and accounting guidelines.
* Oversee the preparation of the Company?s month-end financial and management reports and present them to the Finance Leadership team.
* Responsible for all general ledger transactions, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial results.
· Implement and manage the internal controls environment with respect to financial policies, processes and procedures, including remediation activities.
· Manage the year-end external audit, including preparing working papers and ensuring the Company is in a state of audit readiness.
· Prepare standard monthly journal entries and maintain an accurate and complete trail of supporting documentation for all financial activities.
· Prepare daily reporting of financial position (cash and line of credit), and provide weekly cash flow forecasting.
· Complete Bank Margin Reporting and Statistics Canada surveys.
· Complete Monthly Sales Tax Remittances (HST and QST) in a timely manner, and perform reconciliations and analysis, as needed.
* Reconcile balance sheet accounts (Bank, Prepaids, Taxes, etc.) and ensure other team members are completing reconciliations timely and efficiently.
· Responsible for administration of foreign currency transactions, including booking entries, updating the ERP system with monthly exchange rates, tracking and journalizing US forward contracts and running reports to post monthly FX entries.
· Back up reviewer of cheques and EFTs before submitted for final payment.
* Responsible for maintaining finance policy and procedure documentation.
* Assist with annual physical inventory counts.
· Perform ad-hoc special projects, as required.
*Experience, Qualifications, and Educational Requirements:*
· University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
· Recently CPA designated or pursuing a designation an asset.
· 4+ years in a Finance setting in a progressive finance role.
· Experience with reporting under Canadian GAAP (ASPE).
· Knowledge of various taxation systems (HST/US tax/Income Tax) is an asset.
· Excellent communication skills both verbal and written; effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
· High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
· Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
· Demonstrated success in implementing process improvements and managing in a changing environment.
· Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, with an ability to meet tight deadlines.
· Self-starter who works well with limited supervision.
