*Position Summary: *Provide financial leadership to the accounting team by overseeing accounting, financial planning, and analysis activities. Provide accurate, timely financial information and analysis for Royal Laser and its group companies. Play a key role in long-term strategic decision-making processes that affect the organization?s profitability.
*Accounting Functions*
· Manage full-cycle accounting including billing, general ledger and chart of accounts maintenance, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, tax compliance, revenue recognition, and various ad-hoc analysis for Royal Laser, Medz Cannabis Inc. and associated companies.
· Manage the month and year-end close processes, ensuring completeness and timeliness by reviewing journal entries. Regularly conduct deep dives and implement measures to enhance control and efficiency in financial processes.
· Oversee and manage inter-company transactions and multi-company consolidated reporting.
· Review and analyze monthly inventory reporting integrity.
· Review sales tax and excise tax compliance controls and processes and ensure timely filing as per deadlines.
· Oversight/preparation of reconciliations and schedules to support the preparation of timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reporting.
· Identify and implement process improvements for the accounting function by implementing policies & procedures.
· Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure accounting activities follow GAAP standards.
· Oversee the external audit/compliance/regulatory/tax processes, managing the timing of key deliverables and ensuring compliance with local statutory and tax filings including CRA, Health Canada and other regulatory/financial institutions.
· Keep an organized filing system of all accounts, statements, transactions, payments, and debts.
· Become a subject matter expert to provide support to the team.
· Completion of bank reconciliations, tenant chargebacks and cash transfers.
· Handle and manage cash transfer requests to head office on behalf of internal and external partners.
*Finance Functions:*
· Establish (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
· Work closely with divisional managers to develop and oversee the annual strategic plan, budget, and long-term planning for in accordance with business goals and objectives.
· Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely delivery of the monthly FP&A package with corresponding subsequent analysis of actual results. Support the month-end close process through the variance analysis of budget vs actual results.
· Monitor cash flow and manage working capital effectively including debt management.
· Oversee payments including trade payables, debts/loans, and other large quantities of cash.
· Oversee accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of overdue payments.
· Manage the reporting of key performance indicators and dashboards to monitor and communicate business results. Communicate and collaborate with departmental leaders to stay abreast of spending, budgeting, reports, and evaluation. Provide strategic analysis as required to drive improved decision-making.
· Define, measure, analyze, improve, and control current business processes that impact profit margins and operating efficiencies.
· Identify and implement changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the divisional teams, including documentation of key processes.
