Gather Catering is a made from scratch boutique catering company that offers a high level of food and service to our clients. We are looking to expand our team. We cater to a variety of events both in clients homes and in event venues throughout the city. The events we cater include but are not limited to corporate breakfasts, lunches, cocktail and dinner parties, weddings, birthday parties, baby showers, social gatherings, celebrations of life.
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Head Chef to facilitate our kitchen?s activities in conjunction with our Executive Chef.
*Responsibilities*
* Manage, maintain and execute the food preparation process and any other relative activities
* Manage and execute off-site events in a professional manner on a variety of locations with a changing landscape of facilities
* Plan menus with new or existing culinary creations ensuring the quality of the menu with Executive Chef
* Plan all orders of equipment and ingredients
* Maintain and monitor records of food costs, labour costs, consumption, sales and inventory
* Maintain and foster relationships with clients, team members, vendors, farmers & suppliers
* Participate in processes of hiring, managing and training kitchen team
* Estimate staff?s workload and compensations
* Instruct, train and supervise kitchen and event chefs in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
* Prepare and cook food on a regular basis
* Maintain records of staff attendance and scheduling
* Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards
* Arrange for repairs when necessary
* Remedy any problems or defects
* Maintain a positive culture and environment of cooperation and respect between co-workers
* Protect and enhance the Gather Catering brand
*Requirements and skills*
* Proven experience as Head Chef
* Have at least 5 years culinary and related experience
* Previous catering experience preferred but not mandatory
* Capable of managing a multifaceted kitchen both in a commercial kitchen space and at off-site events
* Have the ability to respond quickly in dynamic and changing environments
* Ability in dividing responsibilities and monitoring progress of kitchen and event team
* Have outstanding communication and leadership skills
* Have an outstanding attention to detail
* Be enthusiastic, positive and always eager to learn
* Possess knowledge of ingredients and be interested in expanding your product and culinary knowledge and a willingness to share this knowledge with the team
* Up-to-date with culinary trends and optimized kitchen processes
* Be available to work seasonal and flexible hours - days, evenings, week-ends, holidays
* Be presentable and professional in appearance
* Integrate and work well with existing staff
* Good understanding of useful computer programs (MS Office, Google Docs)
* Credentials in health and safety training
* Be able to lift up to 25-50 pounds, and able to stand and walk for long periods of time
* Have a driver's license
* Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada

Pay will be based on experience.
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
