<p>Applications are invited for the position of a Family School Liaison Counsellor. Assignment: Full-Time, Temporary<p>Location: Crescent Valley School Hinton, Alberta<p>Start Date: Duties to start November 4, 2024 to June 27, 2025 or the return of the incumbent, whichever occurs sooner.<p>Hours of Work: 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)<p>The competition will remain open until: September 27, 2024, 12:00pm Background <p>This is a permanent 10-month position that follows the School Division Calendar. The Family School Liaison Counsellor is part of a multidisciplinary team working with school/community personnel and families to provide support for children with emotional and behavioral needs. The Family School Liaison Counsellor provides 1:1 counselling support to students as well as provides addiction and mental health promotion and prevention to children, youth and families. The Family School Liaison Counsellor works with school staff, parents and community members (who work closely with children and youth) to increase their knowledge, skills and competence related to mental health and illness issues.Work Experience Requirements <p>The successful candidate will have: At least 2 years working experience in mental health work or health/human services related role (experience as a practicum student considered).<p> Knowledge of addiction and mental health is required.<p> Familiarity with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families.<p> Experience delivering programming and be comfortable with public speaking.<p> Strong relationship-building skills.<p> Effective time management skills.<p> Takes initiative and is able to work independently as well as in teams.<p> Skill and knowledge of facilitation, positive communication and creative thinking.<p> Solid comprehension and practice of personal and professional boundaries.<p> Ability to develop supportive relationships with young people.<p> Ability to advocate for and enable others.<p> Creative problem solving and decision making skills.<p> To be comfortable liaising with community members, school staff, community agencies and health care providers.<p> Community collaboration/networking skills.<p> An understanding of the communities economic, cultural and political environment.<p> Knowledge of the local community and resources available.<p> Capability of maintaining program statistics for purposes of evaluation and assisting in evaluating the effectiveness of programs.<p> Resilience and a commitment to personal development.<p> Skills in Google G-Suite and working knowledge of social media.<p> To provide proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable.<p> Knowledge and proven counselling skills are essential, as are strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others.Educational Requirements <p>The successful candidate will: Possess either a Diploma, Bachelors or Masters degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology or a related field.<p> Registered or certified member in good standing with a professional governing body, or willing to pursue registration/certification is an asset but not a requirement.Benefits Schedule follows the School Division Calendar<p> Health & Dental Benefits, 100% employer contribution<p> Life and AD&D Insurance, Extended Disability Insurance<p> $60 per month allocation to a combined Health and Wellness Spending Account<p> Salary will be based upon a review of the candidates relevant education and experience.
