*HR Generalist*
The Human Resources Generalist plays a crucial role in assisting, organizing, supporting and evaluating the human resources function for the organization. The Human Resources Generalist will provide support to the Human Resource Manager and management with recruitment; onboarding and orientation of staff; reporting workplace injuries; managing and monitoring WSIB claims; managing the safe return of employees to work; and providing support to leaders and staff in a variety of human resource requests and issues.
This position requires an individual who is detail oriented, organized, person centered and is able to effectively manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.

*Responsibilities:*
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Support the full recruitment cycle from posting job positions, assisting with interviewing, drafting offers of employment in collaboration with the hiring leader.
* Manage the onboarding process and facilitate orientation of new hires working closely with the hiring manager and staff schedulers to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
* Create and manage user profiles in the learning application and validate staff completion of required orientation and annual mandatory training by staff.
* Provide support and guidance and coaching on performance related issues
* Submit work related injuries as required to Workplace Safety & Insurance Board (WSIB) and manages WSIB claims
* Work closely with managers identifying modified work, minimize lost time and ensure the safe return of staff to work. Monitors the progress of staff as they resume full duties.
* Manage employee leaves of absences (LOA) which may include follow-up and planned return to work.
* Participate in monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee meetings and ensure any follow up items are actioned
* Support the overall health and safety process and reporting as required.
* Provide HR support and assisting leaders with issues and problem-solving while having regard for the appropriate interpretation and application of union collective agreements, employment statutes and human resources policies and procedures.
* Provide administrative support to the Human Resources R Manager in with a variety of duties such as drafting letters, assisting with fact finding, grievance management
* Support the HR Manager and/or leadership during collective bargaining assisting with drafting proposals, researching and analyzing trends and best practices in support of negotiations.
* Promotes a culture of philanthropy.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
*Qualifications: *
The successful applicant will possess the following qualifications:
* Successful completion of a Bachelor?s degree or diploma in human resources, or other as acceptable to Shalom Village in conjunction with a post-graduate Human Resources Management certificate.
* Minimum (3) three to five (5) years recent, related job experience.
* Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) would be considered an asset.
* Knowledge and understanding of collective agreements, labor and employment legislation.
* Proficient knowledge of human resource principles (e.g. progressive discipline, performance management, payroll, benefits, compensation and recruitment and selection).
* General knowledge of labor relations processes (e.g. grievance, mediation, arbitration and negotiation).
* General knowledge working with relevant legislation including Ontario Employment Standards Act (ESA), Ontario Labor Relations
