<p><p><p><p><p>TEMPORARY CHILD AND YOUTH WORKER<p> Full time -35 Hours per Week - 10 Month Position (1.0 FTE)<p>Effective: Immediately; Duration: Undetermined<p> <p>Q ualifications <p><p> Successful completion of a three-year post secondary child and youth worker diploma program plus a minimum of two years related job experience in child youth work;<p> Good working knowledge of relevant legislation and the developmental needs of children/youth;<p> Strong knowledge of group work practice and the ability to function effectively in group work;<p> Ability to function independently within the framework of a team.<p> Self-starter with strong, organizational skills and the ability to manage caseload duties;<p> Ability to deal with students in a calm, compassionate and professional manner;<p> Ability to maintain discretion with confidential information;<p> Excellent written and oral communication skills.<p><p> <p><p>Duties/Responsibilities <p><p> Participate, as required, in meeting the social, emotional and behavioural objectives for students;<p> Assist in planning social, emotional and behavioral management programs, including participation in the delivery to students;<p> Provide support in collaboration with teachers, parents and other support services;<p> Assist in implementing therapeutic programs to individual and small groups of students;<p> Provide counseling and crisis intervention to individuals and groups;<p> Observe and monitor students? behavior and inform teacher/principal of progress;<p> Liaise with parents and community agencies as required through the Principal;<p> Deliver disciplinary measures in accordance with the Code of Behavior and Catholic values;<p> Attend and participate in staff meetings and perform other duties as assigned;<p> Perform other related duties as assigned by the Child and Youth Worker Supervisor.<p><p><p>Applications must include: <p><p> Cover Letter; and<p> Resume. <p><p>About Us: <p>As a Catholic Learning Community, the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provides faith formation and academic excellence, which enables our graduates to live a life of love and service in Christ. The Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board provides a Christ-centered education to approximately 12,000 students within 28 elementary schools, 3 secondary schools and a multisite Alternative Education school and 3 administrative offices.<p>The Board currently employs over 1500 permanent staff and approximately 350 casual and occasional staff which includes teachers who are supported by a team of consultants, principals and administrators and non-academic staff who work to ensure the best possible facilities, supports and resources are available to our students and the system. The Board encompasses the broad geographical area of the City of Brantford and the counties of Brant, Haldimand and Norfolk.
