We're currently looking for one *dedicated* culinary team member to join our beautiful restaurant here on the Bedford Highway. To ensure that we keep up with our high standards when it comes to the guests' experience, we'll be looking for a minimum of 2 years of restaurant experience within the Caribbean cuisine. Our menu will consist of most items being native to The Bahamas and our neighbouring Caribbean Islands.
*We're located at 771 Bedford Highway Unit 5, formally the (Formally The Esquire Motel).*

*Job Duties*: The successful candidate is responsible for the daily preparation of food items in the pantry, fry, and/or stations or other areas of the kitchen. Sets up station according to restaurant guidelines. Prepares all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner. Follows recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the restaurant. Restocks all items as needed throughout your shift. Cleans and maintains station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills. Has understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment on station. Assists with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, fridges/freezers, and all storage areas. Performs additional responsibilities, although not detailed, as requested by the Chef, Sous Chef, or supervisors at any time. Prepare dishes for guests with food allergies or intolerance. Ensure quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning all surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures.
*Requirements*: Professional diploma or food services management preferred. Minimum 2 years of cooking experience required. Demonstrated knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation required*. *Knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principles of safe food handling required. *Have legal permission to work in Canada (e.g. open work permit). *Effective communication skills. Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment. Highly effective teamwork skills. Attention to detail in all areas of work. Superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision.
*Qualifications:*
* 2+ years minimum line cook experience
* Valid WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced Certification, First Aid Certification are considered an asset
* Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised!
* Must be flexible with scheduling
*Baking experience is an asset but not necessary as plenty of on the job training will be provided.*
