Job details
Seeking motivated team members who enjoy working outdoors for a hand fuel treatment project in the Tatla Lake Area\*. The project involves thinning, piling brush, pruning, and burning to remove forest fuel to reduce fire risk and increase community safety.
Experience is preferred but willing to train qualified applicants. Wages are commensurate with skills and experience. Must be physically fit, willing to work in variable weather conditions, and adhere to Niut Group's health and safety policy.
\*Duties\*
- Clearing fuel from forest floor, thinning, piling of brush, and burning. This work is done using a mix of manual labour, hand tools, gas powered saws, and other equipment
- Apply mechanical knowledge to operate and maintain various pieces of equipment including brush saws, chain saws, and other tools and equipment
- Under the direction of your supervisor, implement forestry prescriptions to achieve stated objectives
- Work outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Attend and participate in safety meetings and initiatives as required

- Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment
- Must adhere to Niut Group's Health & Safety Policy
- Reliable and responsible
- Able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
- Be physically fit and able to lift and carry
The following are considered assets:
- Experience in forestry, silviculture, firefighting or related work
- Experience operating a chainsaw or brush saw
- Certificates for First Aid, Transportation Endorsement, and BC Fallers Training
All employees must supply their own CSA approved footwear. Other personal protective equipment is provided.
\*This work is located in the vicinity of Tatla Lake, a rural-remote community in the West Chilcotin area of BC. Although there are limited services locally, the area boasts unparalleled recreational/wilderness opportunities and a spirited local community. For non-local applicants, limited space for basic accommodations may be available.
Job Type: Seasonal
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: $18.00-$30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
Schedule:
* 8 hour shift
* Monday to Friday
