Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate. Work setting: Formal dining room. Restaurant. Coffee shop. Hotel, motel, resort. Tasks: Advise on wine selection and serve wine. Inspect dining rooms and other food and beverage serving areas. Address customers' complaints or concerns. Answer customers' questions regarding menu items and preparation methods. Assist clients/guests with special needs. Attend to seating arrangements for large groups. Greet customers. Perform opening and closing activities. Receive customers' reservations and assign tables. Receive payments from customers. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Standing for extended periods. Work under pressure. Personal suitability: Client focus. Efficient interpersonal skills.
