Education: College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 1 year to 2 years. or equivalent experience. Work site environment: Outdoors. Confined spaces. Work setting: Installation. Maintenance. Telecommunications company. Tasks: Install and maintain aerial and underground telephone equipment. Test equipment to locate transmission faults. Install trunking systems, circuits and equipment. Instruct apprentices. Complete and maintain test and service reports. Determine nature, cause and location of trouble. Climb and work aloft on poles, ladders or other support structures. Connect, disconnect and relocate cable outlets. Determine work assignments. Install cable modems and software to enable Internet access. Maintain and repair aerial and underground transmission systems. Repair or replace faulty cables, power suppliers and amplifiers. Splice, join and connect wires. Repair or replace defective telephone equipment. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Attention to detail.
