GROUNDS MAINTENANCE III <p>ONE POSITION FOR THE SOOKE SCHOOL DISTRICT.<p>FORTY HOURS PER WEEK. <p>PLEASE SEE JOB DESCRIPTION BELOW.<p>THIS IS A NEW POSITION AND WILL RECEIVE A FINAL PAY RATING 6 MONTHS AFTER THE NEW INCUMBENT STARTS AS PER THE JOB EVALUATION PLAN.<p>AN INTERIM HOURLY RATE OF $31.63 WILL BE APPLIED.<p>DUTIES TO COMMENCE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. <p> Terms of Employment: <p> Twelve Months per year KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE Completion of grade twelve.<p> Valid certification and experience in the safe operation of backhoe and mini excavators<p> A valid Class 5 BC drivers license with the ability to operate a standard transmission.<p> Ability to obtain heavy trailer endorsement license for transport of larger grounds equipment and machinery<p> Hold a valid Canadian Playground Inspectors Certificate<p> Ability to obtain a BC Pesticide Applicators Certificate<p> Demonstrable ability to supervise staff with formal relevant supervisory training<p> Minimum Three (3) years experience in grounds maintenance and construction.<p> Ability to operate grounds construction equipment including front end loader, backhoe, skidsteer, tractors, trencher, etc.<p> Basic computer knowledge and the ability to understand word processing, spreadsheet programs, work order system, email and electronic site documents<p> Thorough knowledge of the operation of hand and power tools and grounds maintenance equipment.<p> Able to work well outdoors under all adverse weather conditions.<p> Able to read and interpret drawings and specifications. <p> SKILLS AND ABILITIES Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task and work autonomously<p> Ability to work with a consistent sense of efficiency<p> Familiarization with WorkSafeBC Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures<p> Possesses a strong understanding of district policies, regulations and safety standards <p> Actively shows courtesy and respect to all, proactively builds healthy and trusting relationships with all;<p> Contributes to a positive working environment<p> Clearly articulates thoughts and ideas and shares timely and relevant information openly, honestly and respectfully with district staff and stakeholders<p> Possesses strong organizational skills and proactively plans, prioritizes and organizes work<p> Takes initiative, leads others and works efficiently without direct supervision<p> Good health and adequate strength to perform physical tasks related to responsibilities<p> Respects the confidential nature of all information relating to student, parents and staff <p>RESPONSIBILITIES Operates large grounds equipment including backhoe, skid steer, mini excavators, large tractors and forklift with the ability to use various trailers for transporting equipment<p> Responsible for the repair, renovation, and installation of district amenities, including but not limited to, play structures, fencing and hardscapes associated with maintenance and various grounds projects.<p> Forms, places and finishes concrete on small grounds related projects<p> May be required to train or convey acquired knowledge of grounds related equipment and procedures to other grounds staff <p> Operates all minor and heavy-duty power tools (chainsaws, augers, heavy duty drills, jackhammers, chippers and tampers) which are used on a regular basis <p> Orders materials as required and assists with estimates related to maintenance and ground projects<p> Assists with all grounds inventory to ensure supplies, equipment and materials are adequate to perform scheduled work<p>
