It is recognized that the quality of life of our residents is tied to a healthy, natural environment and a robust economy.Why work for us?Competitive salary Health Benefits Pension Wellness Spending Account Paid vacation and personal days Work/Life Balance Compressed Work Week (EDO) Summary:This position provides office and field support to the Operational Services Department and is responsible for the coordination and implementation of activities relevant to the Road, Public Works, Agriculture, Environment and Parks programs.Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Flexibility required. Salary:Starting at $78,278.40Duties and Responsibilities:Administers, assists, and tracks the status of Operational Services applications and approvals (e.g. permits and agreements) and closes out completed applications. Administers department referrals, coordinates communications, responds where required, and maintains relevant records as per outlined practices. Coordinate private utility notifications and requests. Receives securities, prepares invoicing, and tracks payments from applicants and developers. Performs pre and post development inspections. Performs infrastructure inspections on items such as culverts, sidewalks and other assets to assess condition and maintenance considerations. Assists with Operational Services GIS data tables and asset management. Collects various field information relevant to Operational Services (examples include groundwater elevations and traffic counts). Maintains summaries, statistics, reports (examples include but are not limited to groundwater, utility consumption and generation, road salts, gravel pits) and as-built records relevant to the department. Coordinate utility modifications and Service Connection Agreements. Maintain and update provincial disposition data and records relevant to the Operational Services department. Researches and prepares best practices, procedures, policies, and bylaws. May be asked to administer projects which could include but are not limited to gravel pit reclamation, trail rehabilitation, provincial dispositions and playgrounds. Prepares staff reports and makes presentations to MD Council and committees. Prepares cost estimates and project budgets. Undertake FOIP searches as requested Become knowledgeable and capable in Alberta Purchasing Connection (APC) posting process. Responds to inquiries from the public. Perform the functions of a designated role in the MD?s Emergency Plan as assigned by the Director of Protective Services. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications:Previous municipal government experience is desired, knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and relevant legislation is beneficial, but not necessary. Experience in the field and office environment is required. Experience with data collection, entry and coordination is required. A minimum post-secondary education with preference to those having a degree or diploma. Demonstrated proficiency in applicable computer programs (Microsoft programs, and other municipal related software etc.) and ability to learn new programs as needed. Valid driver?s license. Solid public relations skills in dealing with the general public. Strong written and verbal communications skills. Able to work independently, with limited supervision required.
