Education: Other trades certificate or diploma. Pipefitting/pipefitter and sprinkler fitter. Boilermaking/boilermaker. Work setting: Assembly. Maintenance. Repair. Oil refinery and petrochemical plant. Thermal plant. Installation. Tasks: Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements . Lay out patterns. Fit and weld parts together. Erect and install boilers and heavy-metal products according to specifications. Repair and maintain boilers and heavy-metal products. Perform informal inspections of completed welds. Repair or replace defective pressure vessel parts, such as safety valves or regulators. Area of specialization: Boiler installation. Boiler tube installation. Pressure vessels. Transportation/travel information: Valid driver's licence. Work conditions and physical capabilities: Fast-paced environment. Tight deadlines. Handling heavy loads. Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Standing for extended periods. Bending, crouching, kneeling. Overtime required. Own tools/equipment: Steel-toed safety boots.
