Spartan Response is recruiting for a *Full-Time Health & Safety Coordinator *to join our growing team. Reporting to the General Manager, this position is based out of our Hamilton office.
The Health & Safety Coordinator will oversee Spartan Response Health & Safety Program and work cooperatively with the Spartan team and our clients to ensure Health & Safety is a priority in the performance of all internal/external activities. This role will divide their time between internal and client/job-site support as required.
Our ideal candidate brings a minimum of 2 years' experience in Health & Safety with a background in the Industrial/Construction sector, and a solid understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA). Strong communication, organization and a proactive skill set are key to success in this role.

*Responsibilities:*
-Oversees the implementation and maintenance of Spartan Response Health & Safety Program and Standard Operating Guidelines. This includes developing client (job-specific) Health & Safety procedures and ensuring proper training/communication is enforced.
-Leads Spartan Response monthly Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings. Record minutes and action items for continual improvement. Keeps Health & Safety Board up to date.
-Works collaboratively with Operations to ensure all required H&S documentation is in place for safety compliance on all job sites: Job hazard analysis & safe work procedures.
-Leads the investigation of all accidents and near misses, identify root causes and recommend accident prevention methods. Liaison with MOL, WSIB as required.
-Supports Spartan Response Respirator Mask Fit-Testing services. Conducts fit-tests for internal staff and client requests for on-site delivery.
-Provides field support for client-specific CSE work mandates as required.
-Works collaboratively with Spartan?s Training division to monitor employee field training is up-to-date. Leads the organization of Spartan?s Annual H&S Training sessions.
-Works collaboratively with Spartan?s Finance and Operations teams to oversee Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for employees and job-specific requirements. Manages ongoing inventory counts, ordering/purchase orders and annual equipment inspections.
- Conducts regular (weekly) workplace inspections and audits.
-Provide H&S requirements related to contractor compliance sites and Spartan submissions of bids and RFQs as required.
-Deliver safety training (onboarding new employees, annual EHS training, job-specific).
*Education, Experience & Skills:*
-Post-Secondary Diploma/Degree (College or University).
-Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) certified. (preferred, not mandatory) or experience being part of a JHSC committee.
-Minimum 2-3 years of proven experience in a Health and Safety role (construction, industrial sector experience preferred).
-Understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act (OSHA).
- WHMIS, WAH, First Aid and Worker Health & Safety Supervisor & Awareness training (some or all of these core training).
-Strong technical writing skills (EHS Program, Policies, Procedures, Incident Reports).
-Solid presentation skills (Delivery of H&S orientations, work-site safety talks, annual EHS Training).
-Independent work ethic with strong organizational, administrative and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills (verbal & written) for internal staff & client-facing H&S.
- Drivers License ? Clean abstract & access to own vehicle a must.
-Strong knowledge of Microsoft 360: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams.

8:30am-4:30pm Monday to Friday
30% Travel Required (Job Site Visits/Meetings)
