SYMS Engineering is a leading provider of industrial engineering services, specializing in installation and field management for various industrial projects. We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction General Manager to join our team in Windsor, ON.
*Position Overview*:
As a Construction General Manager, you will oversee the on-site progress of the construction of industrial engineering projects. This role requires extensive travel to construction sites throughout the United States, with potential for international travel depending on project needs.
*Key Responsibilities*:
* Develop and manage project schedules to ensure tasks and milestones are completed on time.
* Prepare project budgets, monitor expenditures, and implement cost-saving measures.
* Allocate resources efficiently, including labor, equipment, and materials.
* Oversee construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
* Coordinate the installation of mechanical equipment and piping systems, ensuring adherence to design specifications and industry standards.
* Supervise structural construction activities to ensure structural integrity and safety.
* Negotiate contracts with subcontractors and vendors, manage subcontractor performance, and resolve disputes.
* Liaise with OEMs to coordinate the delivery and installation of specialized equipment and machinery.
* Demonstrate strong leadership skills, motivating project teams, resolving conflicts, and fostering a collaborative work environment.
* Maintain accurate project documentation, generate regular reports on project status, and communicate effectively with clients and stakeholders.
*Qualifications*:
* Bachelor?s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
* Over 15 years of experience in mechanical engineering, including production, project/construction management.
* Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is preferred.
* Extensive experience with process piping, pipelines, pneumatic systems, and hydro testing.
* Strong technical knowledge in mechanical installations, heavy equipment erection, and process engineering.
* Proficiency in planning and scheduling software, P&ID, PFD, and MS Office.
* Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
* Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and manage subcontractors and vendors.
* Willingness to travel 100% for project needs.
